The equities segment of The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) ended Tuesday’s trading session on a bearish note due to sell pressures which wiped off the previous day’s gain.
The All-Share Index decreased by -0.57% to close at 39,267.11 index points as against the +0.71% profit recorded on Monday.
The market capitalization closed at N20.54 trillion from N20.66 trillion on Monday as investors lost N118.4 billion from their net worth.
Consequently, the market year-to-date return stands at -2.5 per cent.
The market breadth closed slightly negative as LIVESTOCK led 22 Gainers and REGALINS topped 13 Losers, showing a bearish outlook.
In specific terms, LIVESTOCK was up 9.66 percent to close at N1.93, Cornerstone added 9.09 percent to close at N0.60 and Courtville was up 9.09 to close at N0.24 per share.
NPF Microfinance Bank rose by 8.33 percent to close at N1.95 per share, while Royal Exchange increased by 7.69 percent to close at N0.28 per share.
Conversely, REGALINS topped losers’ table, down by 9.09 percent, PRESTIGE dipped 8.89 percent to close at N0.41 per share and DAAR Communication down 8.00 percent to close at N0.23 per share.
Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) down 4.72 percent to close at N5.05 per share, while SOVRENINS lost 4.17 percent to close at N0.23 per share.
Trading activity level waned as the volume and value of transaction exchanged on Tuesday declined 35.6 per cent and 69.3 per cent respectively to 336.1 million units and N3.3 billion.
