As covid-19 pandemic continues to impact negatively on most businesses and purchasing power of parents, the management of Sofunix International Schools has reduced the tuition fees across all classes with effect from the new academic session.
But the management assured the public at the weekend that the significant downward review would not in any form affect the schools’ high academic standard, rather, a corporate response to the plight of parents.
Addressing the Parent-Teacher Forum at the weekend, the Proprietor and Chairman, Mr Sola Oni explained that parents needed to be assisted to pay school fees and other charges under the tough operating environment caused by covid-19 pandemic which has put everyone under pressure.
Oni, who described the current operating environment as traumatic noted that prior to the lockdown of schools by the Federal Government in March this year, many parents were already indebted. According to him, the operating environment had been characterized by uncertainties at various levels even before the pandemic worsened the precarious situation.
“We are good corporate citizen. We all need to face reality at this juncture. Covid—19 has altered everything. Companies are embattled and struggling for survival. Job losses is on the increase. One of the plausible means to remain afloat is to encourage our parents by reflecting the impacts of the pandemic on our cost structure. But this will not affect our adjudged high academic standard. The whole philosophy is to assist our parents to pay promptly, attract brilliant children of middle class and support the underprivileged but promising children with scholarships. This is consistent with our Community Social Responsibility,”, said Oni.
The parents greeted the announcement of downward review of school fees with jubilation. A parent, Pastor Stephen Daodu, described the gesture as unprecedented and historic, given the current situation that affects private schools nationwide.
According to him, the schools’ management has demonstrated clear understanding of the plight of parents by bending backward to reduce school fees. Daodu however urged parents to reciprocate the gesture by paying the school fees and other charges promptly. Other parents also eulogized the schools and prayed for the continuous stellar achievements.
