DIG Awards Gallant Officers In Ondo

The newly-promoted Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), David Folawiyo on Tuesday commended and awarded 18 officers in Ondo State Police Command  for their good works and dedication to duty.

The pioneer and outgoing Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 17 initiated the gesture to encourage officers and men to perform better in discharging their duties.

Analyzing the outstanding performances of each awardee, the DIG noted that the awards were won by joint efforts of officers and men in the area commands and divisions.

Commending the men and officers of the command for their gallant performances during the #EndSARS protest across the state, Folawiyo noted that some officers and men exuded extraordinary gallantry when their divisions were attacked by EndSARS protesters.

He recalled his experience when EndSARS protesters attacked A’ Division in Akure, the state capital, saying “I was almost mobbed too by #EndSARS protesters.

“They were actually already like fifty times the number of officers on ground at the division. I had to rush to the office to reinforce.

“By the time we returned, the division was intact. How the DPO did it, I did not know.”

Reacting on behalf of all the awardees, the Deputy Commissioner of Police(Administration) Mr. Olusola Akinyede commended the DIG, who he said has always sustained ethics and tenets of this formation.

Akinyede said: “The First AIG Zone 17 has come with this gesture to reawaken and renergise officers to do more. With these rewards, we are encouraged.

“This is very rare. It should be an annual event at all levels.”

Some of the 18 awardees are state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bolaji Salami, the newly promoted Commissioner of Police, Mr. Babatunde Mobayo, DCP Monday Kuryas and DCP Olusola Akinyede.
